About Raveena Gill

Raveena Gill is a family lawyer with Spectrum Family Law in Calgary. She was called to the Bar in Alberta in 2018 and has practised in family law since then. Raveena represents clients across the full spectrum of family matters, from amicable, uncontested separations to high-conflict litigation, with a focus on clear strategy, strong advocacy, and practical outcomes.

Raveena’s practice includes parenting and decision-making disputes, mobility/relocation, child support and spousal/partner support, and property division (including complex, high-net-worth files involving significant assets and multiple properties). She also drafts and negotiates family contracts, including cohabitation agreements, prenuptial agreements, postnuptial agreements, and separation agreements.

Approach

Family law is personal, and it’s rarely simple. Raveena is known for being direct, prepared, and steady under pressure. She prioritizes honest, realistic advice so clients can make informed decisions, whether that means pursuing settlement or taking a firm position in court when necessary.

While comfortable in litigation, Raveena also values resolution-focused processes when they can produce durable, workable results without unnecessary escalation. Regardless of whether a file proceeds to alternative dispute resolution or to court, she consistently aims to protect her clients’ interests and help them move forward with clarity and stability.

Court and Dispute Resolution Experience

Raveena regularly appears in court and has experience with various types of contested matters. She also represents clients in alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration-style processes, as well as court-assisted services such as meetings with resolution counsel, judicial dispute resolutions, and settlement conferences with Justices of the court.

Training and Professional Development

Raveena is committed to continuous legal education that directly strengthens her day-to-day practice. She has completed 40 hours of training in Mediation of Family and Divorce Conflicts through the Legal Education Society of Alberta. This training informs how she prepares clients for resolution processes and strengthens her ability to identify leverage, frame settlement proposals persuasively, and negotiate outcomes that are durable (not just “paper settlements” that unravel later). She also attends family law conferences and courses to stay current on legal developments in family law.

Recent Notable Outcomes (selected)

Interim application to impute income for child support and compel financial disclosure to be provided

Date: July 2025

Notable Outcome: Represented the mother in a contested interim child support application. Obtained an order imputing the father’s income for child support purposes, setting monthly section 3 child support and section 7 proportionate shares pursuant to the imputed income, retroactively applied to January 1st, 2025. The order compelled outstanding financial disclosure by a firm deadline and awarded enhanced costs, enforceable through the Maintenance Enforcement Program, bringing structure and accountability to a file where disclosure and cooperation were ongoing issues.

Binding JDR through arbitration in a complex parenting dispute (parental alienation dynamics)

Date: November 2025

Notable Outcome: Represented the father in a Binding JDR-style arbitration process where the Arbitrator found that the mother’s conduct had effectively alienated the children from the father and delayed reunification therapy. Argued for a return to meaningful parenting time and counselling supports through reunification. The award granted the father sole decision-making for mental health decisions, directed therapeutic/reunification steps, and adopted the parenting plan proposed by the father.

Emergency ex parte preservation order

Date: December 2025

Notable Outcome: Represented the wife on an urgent preservation application after the husband unilaterally withdrew funds from investment accounts in excess of $1 million. The order froze the relevant accounts, prevented further withdrawals/transfers and required preservation of assets, protecting the integrity of the wife’s family property claim while family property was still being litigated.

Mobility/relocation hearing

Date: January 2026

Notable Outcome: Obtained a relocation order permitting the mother to relocate with the child to another province. The Court found the move was in the child’s best interest and that the father could not prove that it is in the child’s best interest to reside with him in Calgary full-time. Also obtained additional costs against the father after he relied on AI-generated case law that turned out to be fabricated. The result allowed the mother to relocate closer to a reliable support system and accept employment with significant growth potential.
